Continue to the lake district of Nainital and the peaceful birding village of Pangot, home to exceptional Himalayan birdlife and scenic walking trails. Conclude with a memorable trek to Naina Peak, offering sweeping views of the snow-clad Himalayas.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Delhi

Meals: On own
Accommodation: Hotel Shanti Palace or Similar

Upon arrival at Delhi Airport, you will receive a warm welcome and be transferred to the hotel.

The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing time to relax and recover after the journey.

Day 02: Delhi to Corbett National Park

Meals: Breakfast in Delhi, Lunch and Dinner in Corbett
Accommodation: Tiger Camp Resort or Similar 

After breakfast, you will be picked up from the hotel and driven to Corbett National Park, a scenic journey of approximately six hours. 

Upon arrival at Corbett, check in at the hotel and enjoy a wholesome lunch before some time to unwind. Later, explore the natural surroundings of the retreat with a gentle birdwatching session, where a variety of Himalayan foothill species can often be spotted.

In the afternoon, embark on an exciting safari into Corbett National Park. The safari lasts approximately three hours and continues until sunset, offering opportunities to observe the park’s rich wildlife, landscapes, and birdlife in their natural habitat.

Day 03: Corbett National Park to Binsar via Ranikhet

Meals: Breakfast in Corbett, Lunch at Renz, Dinner in Binsar
Accommodation: Binsar Forest Retreat or Similar

Begin the day with an early morning safari in Corbett National Park, exploring its varied landscapes of grasslands, riverine forests, and dense Sal woodlands. This is one of the finest times to experience the wilderness, with chances to spot Tigers, Leopards, Elephants, deer, and an impressive diversity of birdlife. The soft morning light also creates excellent opportunities for photography as the forest comes alive.

After the safari, return for breakfast and check out before beginning the scenic drive towards Binsar. En route, pause for a relaxing lunch at Renz Himalayan Retreat, surrounded by tranquil Himalayan views.

Following lunch, continue via Ranikhet, a charming hill station known for its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy a brief sightseeing visit to the War Memorial, the lush Golf Course, and the revered Kalika Temple.

Later, proceed to Binsar and check in at the hotel. The evening is at leisure to relax and unwind after the day’s journey.

Day 04: Binsar to Dhaulchhina Trek to Jageshwar

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner at Binsar

Begin the day with a wholesome breakfast before setting out on a gentle morning hike, an ideal warm-up for the longer walk planned the following day.

Today’s first trail is a much-loved route of approximately 3 km (round trip), completed at an easy pace over a couple of hours. The walk leads toward Ghoralkot, an area once associated with sightings of ghorals, the shy Himalayan mountain goat. In earlier times, hunters waited across the gorge, though those practices are long gone, and wildlife is now protected.

The trail begins directly from Binsar Forest and climbs gradually toward Zero Point. Along the way are towering trees, peaceful forest stretches, and several beautiful vantage points perfect for photography. The walk is best enjoyed slowly, with frequent pauses to take in the forest atmosphere and mountain air.

Return to the hotel for a relaxed lunch.

In the afternoon, you may choose to enjoy an optional second walk focused on panoramic Himalayan scenery. This route is especially admired for views of the magnificent Panchachuli Peaks, whose five dramatic summits rise on clear days above the distant horizon.

The trail begins from the retreat, descending toward the peaceful Veeneshwar Temple before continuing past a traditional spring-water collection tank known locally as a Sroth. These natural springs are vital lifelines in the Kumaon hills, sustaining villages and homes through ancient water systems.

From here, a stone-paved path climbs toward the Hotel through oak and pine woodland. The route is gentle yet rewarding, with forest shortcuts, old trees, and frequent sightings of playful langurs among the branches.

Day 05: Jageshwar

Meals: Breakfast in Binsar, Dinner in Jageshwar (Lunch On Own)

Begin the morning with a nourishing breakfast at Binsar Forest Retreat, surrounded by the calm beauty of the Himalayas. At around 08:00 hrs, set out on an invigorating day of trekking through the forests of Kumaon.

Today’s walk takes you along a scenic trail from Binsar toward Dhaulachhina, passing through dense oak, rhododendron, and pine forests alive with birdsong and mountain wildlife. Keep an eye out for colorful birdlife, butterflies, langurs, and the occasional barking deer. Along the route, clear weather may reveal sweeping Himalayan vistas, including the majestic peaks of Nanda Devi and Trishul.

By midday, arrive at a small village where there is time to pause, take in the peaceful surroundings, and enjoy light refreshments.

Later, continue trekking for approximately another 3-4 hours to reach Dhaulachhina by late afternoon. On arrival, unwind with a refreshing cup of hot chai before beginning the onward drive to Jageshwar, approximately two hours away.

Nestled in a tranquil valley lined with magnificent ancient deodar forests, Jageshwar is one of the most revered spiritual sites in the Himalayas and home to a celebrated cluster of beautifully carved stone temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Flowing streams, sacred atmosphere, and mountain scenery make this destination a unique blend of heritage, spirituality, and nature.

Day 06: Jageshwar

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Begin the morning with breakfast before setting out on a soulful walk to Vriddha Jageshwar Temple, a sacred shrine dedicated to an ancient form of Lord Shiva and lovingly known as the “Old Jageshwar.”

The 5 km trek begins near the main temple complex of Jageshwar Temple Complex and ascends gently through majestic deodar forests, age-old village trails, and terraced fields cultivated by Kumaoni communities for generations. Along the route, pass traditional stone homes with slate roofs, prayer flags fluttering in the breeze, and glimpses of local village life as residents go about their morning routines.

Beyond Hiriya Shikhar at around 2,200 metres, the trail opens to rewarding views of the snow-covered Kumaon Himalayas. The surrounding landscape feels deeply spiritual, with the source region of the sacred Jata Ganga nearby and the fresh mountain air scented with pine and forest earth.

Spend time at the peaceful temple, where simplicity, silence, and centuries of devotion create a truly special atmosphere. Return to Jageshwar by a shorter 3 km descending trail that offers fresh perspectives of the valley and surrounding woodland.

Later in the evening, those interested may explore nearby caves believed to have once sheltered meditating sages. These hidden spaces remain largely untouched and carry an aura of timeless stillness.

Day 07: Jageshwar to Pangot

Meals: Breakfast in Jageshwar, (Lunch on own), Dinner in Pangot

Begin the day with breakfast in Jageshwar before setting out on a scenic drive to Nainital, the classic British-era hill station nestled around a beautiful mountain lake. The journey takes approximately four hours, with rewarding stops along the way.

En route, visit the peaceful Kainchi Dham, a revered shrine dedicated to the saint Neem Karoli Baba, known for its spiritual atmosphere, bells, and serene surroundings. Continue onward to experience the uplifting energy of this sacred place before proceeding to Nainital.

In Nainital, you can enjoy a relaxing boat ride across Naini Lake, gliding across calm waters framed by forested hills and colonial-era townscapes, or you can stroll the markets and buy some local stuff

After strolling the Nainital streets, continue by road to Pangot, ascending through dense oak and pine forests as the bustle of town gradually gives way to the tranquility of the mountains.

Check in at lodge, India’s pioneering birding lodge, cherished for its heritage, warmth, and peaceful natural setting.

In the evening, you may enjoy birdwatching around the lodge, a gentle walk along village trails, or simply relax and soak in the calm rhythm of Pangot. The lodge’s homely kitchen serves simple, delicious meals prepared with warmth and local flavour.

Day 08: Pangot

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

After an early breakfast, set out on a full-day trek to Naina Peak (locally known as Cheena Peak), carrying packed picnic meals for the journey. This is a rewarding trail for those who enjoy immersive walks through nature.

The route winds through dense oak, pine, and rhododendron forests in spring, the landscape comes alive with vibrant rhododendron blooms. As you move deeper into the forest, the trail gradually opens out onto ridge fire lines, offering expansive views and a sense of quiet wilderness.

Upon reaching the summit, you are greeted with breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-clad Himalayas stretching across the horizon a truly unforgettable reward for the effort.

The descent continues toward Barapathar, where a vehicle will be waiting to transfer you back to Pangot.

Return to Lodge by evening, where a warm meal and the tranquility of the hills provide the perfect end to an active day.

Day 09: Pangot to Delhi

Meals: Breakfast in Pangot, (Lunch & Dinner on Own)
Accommodation: Hotel Shanti Palace or Similar

Enjoy a slow and peaceful morning in Pangot, surrounded by the quiet charm of the hills. Relax with a cup of tea and indulge in some armchair birdwatching from the lodge, where the surrounding trees often host a lively variety of Himalayan birdlife.

For those wishing to stretch their legs before departure, an optional short walk to Woodpecker Point offers a pleasant two-hour trail through the forest, ideal for spotting a few final species or simply enjoying one last nature walk.

After breakfast, check out from the lodge and begin the return drive to Delhi, a journey of approximately seven hours.

Arrive in Delhi by evening and check in at the hotel. The remainder of the evening is at leisure perhaps enjoy some last-minute shopping, explore nearby markets, or celebrate the journey with a farewell dinner in the city’s vibrant culinary scene.

Day 10: Fly out

Meals: Breakfast

After breakfast, and in accordance with your flight schedule, you will be transferred to Indira Gandhi International Airport for your onward journey.
