Jageshwar Temples, Jageshwar, Almora
Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Jageshwar temple is a cluster of 124 large and small stone temples, dating 9th – 13th century, many of these preserved by Archaeological Survey of India. The cluster includes one of the Swayambhu (Jyotir Linga) Lingas found in India, Dandeshwar Temple, Chandi-ka-Temple, Kuber Temple, Mritunjaya Temple, Nau Durga Temple, Nava-grah Temple, Pyramidal Shrine and the Surya Temple. Dandeshwar Temple and the Mrityunjaya Temple are known as the oldest and the biggest enshrinement of Shiva.
The ancient culture and beautiful historic designs offered by the temples, the deodar trees and the Jata Ganga flowing through the temple make this place a meditator’s delight.
